j.Holiday best damm r& b album of 2008 - I got the orginal album and loved it . When I found out they were reissuing the album with new tracks and a dvd this is the best r&b album I have in my collection back of my lac,thug commandments,bed,betcha never had, come here,be with me,suffocate,without you,thank you are all on the first and are able to stand for a great album but when you add the 3 new tracks sooner you get love,I know love and when you get home are great additions to the new album . One of the things I enjoy bout J.Holiday is the fact that he can do both r&b and hip hop which I believe seperates him from Ne-Yo and Chris Brown . J.Holiday is the best vocalist of the 3 and seems to have a wider range to him . I played the cd for my girl and she had never heard of him before now she knows him feels his words are real and beautiful I agree . The dvd has his 3 videos on it along with behind the scenes making of for bed and suffocate along with some pieces to help you get to know more bout J . Get this album you will love it !
J. Holiday- Back Of My Lac (Limited Edition) - Well i am a huge J.Holiday fan. I bought his original album the day it came out. And it was a good album, but nothing huge. The problem with the original was that it felt like it was missing something. It felt like there was to much hip hop on the album and not enough R&B tracks. But i still listened to the album quite a bit. About mid way through January i read an article stating that J. Holiday/Capitol Records had an idea for a re-release of the album with a few bonus tracks and a dvd. Later i read a article that stated while they had already produced the re-release and shipped it to some stores, the label wanted shelf the idea and not release this new album all together and save the bonus tracks for his next album. So i thought i would look around and see if i could possibly find a copy of the supposedly now shelfed deluxe edition of Back of My Lac. Well after i went to three targets, 2 FYE s i was about to give up when i decided to stop at my local Best Buy and take a look. Well it was a good thing i stopped and looked at that best buy because they had one copy of it back in the storage area of the building that hadnt been put out yet. So i almost went crazy because the guy told me that they had one copy sitting in the back that they were going to send back to the label if they didnt sell it. So 20 bucks later, and almost 1/4th a tank of gas i found one copy of the album. So i got home and listened to the extra tracks and discovered it made the album feel complete. It actually was a real R&B album with the three bonus tracks added. The first being the mid tempo ballad Sooner You Get to Love which was the best of the three because J s vocals on this track are on point. The second song was more of slow, chill song with a sampled beat I Know Love, which is another great track. And then my least favorite of the three is the almost raggae feeling slow jam When U Get Home. And then it includes the rest of the regular album including the babymaking hit single Bed and the newer mid tempo slow jam Suffocate. Overall this is a great addition to an already good album, and i believe that if you can get your hands on a copy of this deluxe edition it will be a investment because of the rareity of the album. And on top of that the album cover is cooler lol! Buy it!!!Grade:A
